Who we are!!
Riding For Our Veterans was created in the spring of 2015 by founders Larry and Becky Oster but has roots back to 2014. The first benefit called Ride For My Brother, took place in Aug. of 2014, for Larry's brother a Veteran of 21 years. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in June and Larry lost his brother in Oct. 2014.
With the show of support from the area community's and with the help of some fellow veterans and friends, Riding For Our Veterans Inc. a non-profit organization was formed and gained its 501,c,3 status in the spring of 2015 to help other local Veterans and Veteran Organizations. The second annual benefit was held in Oct 2015 raising money for Generations of Heroes Ranch, a ranch that helps veterans with PTSD and TBI. We also raised money for VFW post #1773 to be placed in their service fund to help other veterans in need.
In 2016 Riding For Our Veterans began hosting Pro Bull Rides and have developed it into a series. In 2023 we added Barrell Racing to our events. We pride our self's in bringing Pro Bull Riding and Barrell Racing to our communities and Honoring Veterans while we do this.
The future of Riding For Our Veterans is to continue helping local Veterans and Veteran organizations through fund raising events. We are working with local agencies to assist with Veterans or service members in need. We are also active in researching Veteran organizations that aid Veterans. In 2022 we started a scholarship program for children and grandchildren of Veterans to ease the burden on the vets and to help provide a better life for their children through continuing education.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU: You can rest assured that the money you donate goes to Veterans. No one at Riding For Our Veterans gets paid. All money collected "minus expenses" goes to help Veterans and Veteran organizations along with our Scholarship Program. The money stays in the community that we have our events. Currently we help those in the counties of Carroll, Livingston, Grundy, Davis, Caldwell, Linn and surrounding communities. We are constantly researching other Veteran organizations to help, but Riding For Our Veterans doesn't just help Veteran organizations, we also strive to help local Veterans or service members that need a hand up not a hand out.
